More rain, storms coming after damaging storms in NE Florida

Jacksonville, Fl — The morning rush to work and school is dry after multiple rounds of rain and storms on Thursday, some of which caused damage in NE Florida. An unsettled, stormy weather pattern will continue across SE Georgia and NE Florida through Sunday morning with several more rounds of strong to severe storms expected until a stronger cold front finally moves across the local area Sunday.

Action News Jax Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh is tracking some late morning and midday showers that will develop and push ENE from the SW and the Gulf of Mexico. The lunch commute may be wet in spots.

Skies will turn mostly cloudy through the morning and highs will reach the upper 70s to lower 80s. The showers and embedded storms will likely move out in time for the evening commute and Friday night plans.

Saturday stars off dry and heats up in a hurry. Temperatures will soar to nearly 90 degrees with high humidity before some sea breeze storms develop either side of I-95 in the afternoon. Another wave of rain/storms will arrive in the evening and linger overnight into Sunday morning. Another two to three inches of rain is possible through Sunday.

Showers and storms will diminish on Sunday from west to east through the afternoon. Temperatures will be in the upper 70s. This pattern is bringing needed rainfall to many locations, but additional heavy rainfall on saturated grounds will increase localized flood potential.

The new week looks pretty overall with sunshine, breezy and less humid temperatures near 80 degrees. Tuesday looks just as pretty.
