At least 52 grocery stores in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia were selling beef that is now under recall.
Twenty-three of those stores are in Jacksonville.
Action News Jax first reported on Thursday that JBS Tolleson recalled 6.5 million pounds of beef because of salmonella concerns.
The beef was sold under multiple brand labels at multiple grocery chains.
The USDA has identified 57 patients from 16 states who got sick.

Now we’ve learned Winn-Dixies and Harveys Supermarkets in 22 of our local cities sold the now-recalled beef -- from Waycross, to Ponte Vedra Beach, to Palatka.
Action News Jax spotted signs notifying shoppers of the recall near Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket entrances by the ads.
We did not see any signs in the meat department.
“Why would I go pick up an ad? I get one at home,” said Jacksonville Winn-Dixie shopper Carol Jones. “I think it should be plastered all over the door. And it wasn’t back there by the beef.... We just bought two roasts.”
Jacksonville mom Crystal Thompson said she just appreciates that the signs were posted.

“At least they’re trying to say if you bought it, at least bring it back,” said Thompson.
Some of the recalled meat was sold under Walmart’s brand name, but Walmart has not responded to Action News Jax’s questions about whether it was sold at any local stores.
Spokespeople for Publix and Aldi told Action News Jax their stores were not affected by the recall.
A spokesperson for Southeastern Grocers, which owns Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket, said the recalled products make up less than 5 percent of the products in the stores’ meat departments.

If a customer still has one of the recalled products, it should be thrown away or returned to any Winn-Dixie or Harveys Supermarket for a refund.
