JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Officials are investigating a deadly crash involving a motorcycle Monday morning in Jacksonville.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded at about 7:15 a.m. to the deadly crash at the intersection of W. 12th Street and N. Lane Avenue.
JSO said the crash involved a large container truck with an attached trailer and a Honda motorcycle.
Several vehicles were traveling westbound on W. 12th St. and stopping for the stop sign at the intersection. The truck and trailer was approximately the third vehicle from the stop sign and the motorcyclist for unknown reasons didn't see the vehicles stopped and ran into the rear of the trailer, JSO said.
The motorcyclist, who the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office identified as 39-year-old Jasen S. Halliday of Daytona Beach, wasn't wearing a helmet, police said. Halliday died at the scene.
The driver of the truck was not injured in the crash.
The investigation is continuing.
