Local students said someone is posting nude photos of them on social media. The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
The sheriff said several students reported to staff at Yulee Middle and Yulee High Schools on Friday that there were nude and semi-nude pictures of students on a Snapchat group.
“It appears some of the students sent some of these pictures to their friends and then someone got a hold of them and then posting them on this account,” said Sheriff Bill Leeper.
The sheriff is reminding students while you may be sending a picture to just one person, that person could send it to someone else.
“You could take an innocent picture and send it to your friend. Next thing you know, they’re posting it on other sites, and it’s embarrassing and It’s illegal,” he said.
The sheriff said the crime is called sexting, a civil citation. But he said it could lead to more serious consequences.
