National Women's Health Week: Tips on maintaining wellness

National Women’s Health Week 2019 runs from Sunday, May 12 to Saturday, May 18, according to the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. During this week, there are several ways women can choose to take care of themselves, and to make their health a priority.

The Department recommends that all women should use this time to:

  • Visit a doctor or nurse for a well-woman visit (checkup) and preventative screenings
  • Learn new ways to eat healthy
  • Pay attention to mental health (and learn about depression among women)
  • Get enough sleep each night
  • Avoid unhealthy behaviors
  • Make time to exercise and stay active

"Every woman has her own approach, and we know that it's not always easy to take steps for better health. This National Women's Health Week find what works best for you," the Department said on their website.
