A new 10-acre park will be built in Downtown Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A new park is in the works for Downtown Jacksonville.

Agency Landscape + Planning LLC, an urban planning firm, has been selected to design a 10-acre park in Downtown Jacksonville.

This project is going to expand waterfront lands and include more of the history of Jacksonville.

They might name the park “Shipyards West Park” and is planned to be located between Catherine Street and St. Johns River Northbank.

The project will be managed by Downtown Investment Authority.

This park is important to some residents because it is involved with the water activation plan which is part of the riverfront development study in 2021.

The design of the park is still in the works and there is not exact date when the park will be ready, but the decision has been made to build the park.
