Northeast Florida survivor of 'Miracle on the Hudson' felt 'relief' when plane hit the water

More than seven years after the "Miracle on the Hudson" river landing, a passenger from Northeast Florida is telling his story.

Casey Jones had taken the flight to and from New York dozens of times; he never thought this one would be any different.

Not long after takeoff, Jones said he heard a loud boom, then the captain told the 155 passengers on board to brace for impact.

Jones began to pray and think of his family. He attempted to leave his wife a voicemail to tell her how much he loved her, but his hands were so shaky he could not type in his password.

Once the plane hit the water, Jones felt a sense of relief.

“Never giving into the fact I thought we would die, I knew there was a possibility, but I thought that whole time, somehow, someway we could make it,” Jones said.

Jones exited and was on the plane's left wing for almost 20 minutes.

Being in the water in the middle of winter was brutal for the survivors.

All the passengers on board survived and weeks after, Jones and his family were able to thank Capt. Chelsey "Sully" Sullenberger.

Jones and his entire family saw the movie "Sully," which recounted the "Miracle on the Hudson" as soon as it hit theaters.
