Paychecks for Patriots job fair coming Wednesday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Veterans in Florida have a unique chance to find civilian employment.

Several state agencies are teaming up Wednesday with businesses and local workforce boards to help vets find jobs.

It's the second annual "Paychecks for Patriots" event at CareerSource offices around the state. Some veterans struggle to find work when returning to civilian life.

"We think that veteran populations are actually one of the best potential employed populations out there. They have been well trained by Uncle Sam. They are dedicated employees; they usually have great skills they picked up in the military that are easily transferrable into the employment environment," said Jesse Panuccio of the Department of Economic Opportunity.

Wednesday's job fair will last from 10 a.m. through 2 p.m. at CareerSource Northeast Florida, 215 N. Market St., Jacksonville, and is open to veterans, active military and their families.

Attendees must register with Employ Florida before the job fair.
