JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. — Hundreds of people gathered at Jacksonville Beach on Sunday to celebrate the opening of the beach season.
The 70th annual Opening of the Beaches parade began around 2 p.m.

Opening of the beaches used to mark the day when cars were allowed to begin to drive on the sand.
Parade-goers said the opening is an annual tradition for them.
“It’s a tradition every year, pushing the stroller," said one parade-goer. "Ever since she was a little girl.”
