JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A new poll by the Public Opinion Research Laboratory at the University of North Florida shows that U.S. Rep. Corrine Brown has a narrow lead in her House re-election race.
Brown holds a 3 percentage point lead over former State Sen. Al Lawson, in the contest for the Democratic nomination.
A third Democrat, former Capitol Hill staffer Lashonda Holloway, held 4 percent of the sample.
Whoever wins the Democrats' Aug. 30 primary will face the sole Republican contender, Gloreatha Smith.
Congressional District 5 was recently reconfigured and the subject of a prolonged legal battle.
