ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- A jury in St. Johns County convicted Quentin Truehill, one of three men charged with the kidnapping and murder of FSU graduate student Vincent Binder.
The jury deliberated for just over three hours before reaching its verdict Tuesday evening.
The jury convicted Truehill of first-degree premeditated murder, first-degree felony murder and kidnapping.
The murder convictions carry a sentence of life or death. Truehill will be sentenced March 3.
He is the first of three men to go on trial for the killing of Binder in 2010. The two other men accused, Peter Hughes and Kentrell Johnson, are being tried separately.
Prosecutors and defense attorneys discussed revisions to the jury instructions just before beginning their closing arguments Tuesday morning.
Witnesses testified during the trial the defendants were involved in other robberies and thefts in the hours leading up to Binder's kidnapping and murder.
Police testified Binder was kidnapped in Tallahassee and beaten, stabbed and even hacked, before his body was dumped near Interstate 95 and State Road 16 in St. Johns County.
