A St. Augustine woman hid under the bed when deputies arrived to arrest her for her involvement in a July 2015 crash that killed two people, a St. Johns County Sheriff’s Department report said.
Ashley Zurvalec, 29, was charged with two counts of DUI manslaughter and leaving the scene of a crash involving a death. She was also charged with resisting arrest.
Police records show Zurvalec had also been arrested in 2014 in St. Johns County for DUI.
On July 3, 2015, at around 10 p.m., Zurvalec was driving a Toyota Camry northbound on U.S. 1 near the Northeast Florida Regional Airport. Zurvalec’s Camry reportedly struck a Ford F-150 driven by a Georgia couple, Nathaniel Davis and Leslie Davis, who were both ejected from the vehicle and killed.
Zurvalec is in the St. Johns County Jail on $150,500 bond.
