Police have identified the man and the woman as Lori Ann Sallas, 42, and Daniel Curt Sallas, 43. Officers say the incident appears to be a murder-suicide, that Daniel shot Lori and then himself.

According to JSO Sgt. Dan Janson, an individual was concerned after Lori Sallas was not seen for some time. Maintenance workers at the complex allowed the individual to enter and that is when both bodies were discovered.

The Sallases were divorced but continued to see each other on and off since the divorce, police said. Daniel Sallas was arrested for domestic violence in April 2014 against Lori Sallas, police said, and he also had a prior incident in 2012.

According to court records from the 2014 incident, Daniel Sallas was sentenced to 12 months probation, a batterer's intervention program and was not supposed to have contact with the victim.

The investigation into the deaths is ongoing.
