Residents anticipate expansion of town center as population booms in Nocatee

About 4,000 families are currently living in Nocatee, pushing the population into the 10,000 range.

“When we first moved here it wasn't that busy, but now it's really busy here,” said resident Rhonda Sanders.

Sanders moved in a year and a half ago.

“When we bought our house there was about 600 homes in Del Webb, and now they've opened over 1,000 more lots,” said Sanders.

Another 44 homes were sold just last week.

The CEO of the PARC Group,  the master developer for Nocatee, says the population growth is the driving force for the expansion of the town center.

"The demand for retail services office space continues to grow,” CEO Rick Ray said.

“We need another grocery store. We could use some more restaurants,” said Sanders.

Ray said they are working on drawing up plans for expansion of the Nocatee Town Center, which will soon be released to residents.

Officials hope to open the new expanded town center by summer 2017.
