Restaurant at the Landing closed for live rodents

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — American Grill in the Jacksonville Landing tops the Restaurant Report. A health inspector saw flies in the kitchen and 120 rodent droppings at the bar. Inspectors also noted that rodents were found both dead and alive in traps around the restaurant.

American Grill was temporarily shut down.  Action News Jax anchor Romney Smith asked she an employee about the violations, but she claimed it was her first day and had no knowledge of a health inspection. Smith waited 20 minutes after American Grill opened and the manager never arrived to answer questions.

At Nile Ethiopian Restaurant in Jacksonville, an inspector saw 46 live roaches, dead roaches and non-food grade containers storing food.

Inspectors went to Mezcal Cantina Authentic Mexican Grill on Bartram Oaks. The health inspector saw 18 live roaches, dead roaches and issued a stop sale on beef due to temperature issues. It was temporarily shut down and reopened after two follow-up inspections.

At Cino’s Pizza in St. Augustine, a health inspector saw nine live roaches, dead roaches and temperature issues with garlic and oil. It was temporarily shut down and allowed to reopen the next day.
