ORANGE PARK, Fla. — This week two restaurants in Orange Park were shut down for more than one day because of roaches.
Inspectors temporarily closed Mike's Pizza in Orange Park for a day and a half because of roaches.
Action News' Romney Smith visited the restaurant to see what the manager had to say about his recent inspection. The inspection details dead roaches behind the freezer and more than 20 live roaches near a food pass-through window and on the floor.
Management didn't want to speak on camera, but say they plan to have pest control spray weekly instead of monthly.
Pasta Market Italian Restaurant and Clam Bar in Orange Park was closed for two days. Inspectors found a live fly in the kitchen and live roaches near the sink, drink prep table and near the back door. The Pasta Market was allowed to reopen after a third inspection.
At Bono's BBQ on Bartram Oaks Walk in Jacksonville, inspectors found 18 violations including an employee with no hair restraint while preparing food, dented and rusted cans, and they issued a stop sale on food not being held at proper temperatures.
