Restaurant Report visits Daruma Japanese Steakhouse and iPho Vietnamese Cuisine

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Your health and safety. It's why state health inspectors make surprise visits at our local restaurants and it's why Action News does the restaurant report every week.

Romney Smith checked the state inspection reports to give you the facts. Smith looked through the most recent inspections in the state records to make sure the places you're taking your family to eat are safe and clean. 

We visited Daruma Japanese Steak House. Here's what we found: 23 violations, nine of them high priority including food not being time stamped and cooked fish not reaching the minimum internal temperature. The owner claims he fixed everything. 

Owner: "All corrected on site if you notice, all corrected on site."

Smith: "But some of them were repeat violations. Some were corrected on site, but not all of them were corrected on spot. Do you have anything to say to your customers?"

Owner: "No I have nothing else to say." 

The other restaurant near the top of the list with high priority violations this week is iPho Vietnamese Cuisine on Beach Boulevard.  Inspectors found nine high priority violations, including moldy carrots and utensils that were not properly sanitized.
