BRUNSWICK, Ga. — Police are on the hunt for a man who reportedly groped a woman in Walmart.
The incident happened at the Altama Boulevard location over the weekend.
“He reached over and grabbed her in an inappropriate place with both his hands,” police Chief Matt Doering said.
Action News Jax was told the suspect followed the victim and her 10-year-old son around the store, and when they got to the checkout line, she said, he made his move, groping her private areas.
“It is scary to think that you can't go out in your neighborhood and be safe,” shopper Joanne Hutcheson said.
The woman chased the man out of the store, and he got away. If and when he is caught, he will be charged with sexual battery, which is a misdemeanor in Georgia.
In the meantime, it's up to the public to identify him and help shoppers like Hutcheson rest a little easier.
“I’ll be very careful about where I go and who's around me,” she said.
“If he's done it once, he's likely to do it again,” Chief Doering said.
If you recognize the man in the surveillance image or have any information about this incident, you're asked to call the Glynn County Police Department or the Silent Witness line at 912-264-1333.
