Man arrested in St. Augustine shooting that left pregnant mother dead, according to SJSO

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies have made an arrest in the shooting death of a pregnant mother in West Augustine.

Action News Jax reported when Shaina Armstrong, a 30-year-old mother of two young daughters, with a third child on the way, was shot while driving.

It happened in the area of Christopher Street and Herbert Street. When deputies responded to the scene after hearing reports of gunfire, they discovered her crashed car.

She was taken to Flagler Hospital, where she died.

At the time, the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office said they did not have a suspect in custody.

After an exhaustive investigation, deputies said they were able to identify a suspect -- Evins Harris.

The sheriff’s office obtained a warrant for his arrest. SJSO executed the warrant and arrested Harris on Thursday.

He’s being charged with first-degree murder with no bond.

Action News Jax spoke to Shawn Alexander, the aunt of Armstrong’s boyfriend in June who said the suspect was after her nephew.
