Two new COVID-19 testing sites open in St. Johns County

ST JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — As the COVID-19 delta variant spreads throughout the state, St. Johns County is addressing the increased need for testing.

“We have been hearing from a lot of residents that were telling us that it had been difficult for them to find an appointment to get tested. So, we wanted to make sure that our residents here in St. Johns County had another option where they can come and get COVID-19 testing and that’s what led to this site opening here,” St. Johns County Director of Public Affairs Lorena Inclan said.

Open seven days a week, the site at the St. Johns Agricultural Center’s Wind and Mitigation building offers free PCR and rapid tests for anyone age 12 months or older.

Rapid results come back the same day. PCR results come through in 24 to 48 hours.

Residents said they got in and out when they got tested.

“It’s pretty quick. You register, of course, as they ask you to do. Once you go in you just go to a desk, you give them your information, you’re right back there, you get tested really quick and easy. In and out,” Latesha Axen said.

“Short and easy. You just have to make sure you register before you go in. They have a little QR code,” Nicholas Mill said.

Another COVID-19 testing site also opened in St. Johns County on Monday at the City of St. Augustine Visitor Center. It’s open from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday - Friday.

It too offers a rapid and PCR test but there is a fee associated with both. The rapid test costs $119. The PCR test costs $150, but with insurance, it’s $52.

You can register for an appointment through the Flagler Health+ Anywhere App.
