Teacher fired from Trinity Christian Academy over 'inappropriate relationship' with student

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A local Christian school has fired a teacher, saying the teacher had an inappropriate relationship with a high school student.

Trinity Christian Academy said it reported the incident to police on Tuesday.

Students and parents told Action News Jax they call the teacher Mr. Z, and said he was a popular teacher.

“He has such a good reputation from everywhere at this school. Everybody knew who he was, he has such a high energy,” said James Baltz, works at school.

“You have to talk to your children, what else can you do?” said Marcia Campbell, a concerned grandparent.

Baltz is hoping the school can learn from this.

“Honestly, I hope this is going to be an awakening for the school,” he said.

Action News Jax's Amber Krycka reached out to Trinity Christian Academy and received this statement on the teacher's firing:

"On Tuesday, in keeping with legal and our own internal reporting guidelines, TCA reported an inappropriate relationship between a high school teacher and high school student to our local law enforcement. In addition to the reporting, we have terminated the employment of the teacher. We are deeply saddened by this situation, because it is so far removed from the standards and values to which we hold our faculty and embrace as a school. We are committed to offering care and support for the student and all families impacted."
