In recent years, the struggles of Florida Gator kickers have been well documented.
It reached a boiling point in the lead up to the 2015 Florida-Georgia game when head coach Jim McElwain held an open tryout to find help at the position.
My, how the times have changed. Now Florida has a certified rock star at the position in sophomore Eddy Pineiro. The Miami native came to Gainesville having never kicked in a college or high school game, yet has been clearly up to the task, making nine of 12 field goal attempts this year, including a pair from beyond 50 yards.
Success on long kicks is nothing new for Pineiro who made a name for himself by sharing videos of 73 and 77 yard kicks during his recruitment process.
Pineiro may be called upon to make the biggest kick of his young career against the Bulldogs.
