There’s an urgent need for type O blood; Here’s how you can donate blood at Memorial Hospital

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Memorial Hospital has teamed up with LifeSouth Community Blood Centers to host a community blood drive this week.

All blood types will be accepted, however, hospital leaders say there is an emergency need for type O blood.

The blood collected during the drive will help local patients in the Jacksonville area.

“Our blood supply comes directly from LifeSouth and every donation helps to positively impact our patients. One pint of blood can save up to three lives. All it would take is just an hour of your time to be someone’s hero,” Steve Black, MT (ASCP), Laboratory Director at Memorial Hospital Jacksonville, said.

The drive will take place on Thursday, July 1 and Friday, July 2, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at hospital classroom 4 at Memorial Hospital (3625 University Boulevard). Donors are instructed to enter through the hospital main entrance and masks are required to be worn.
