Jacksonville, Fl — Two adults and two children were able to escape a house fire early Monday on Jacksonville’s westside. Jacksonville Fire and Rescue was called to the home on Fillyside Trail off Jammes Road in the Oak Hill neighborhood.
A child woke up to a loud boom in the garage and then smelled gas, and then she alerted other family members to escape.
The 13-year-old girl was credited with getting the family safely outside. The mother says the fire spread quickly from the garage to the rest of the home.
The family says they will be staying with relatives for the foreseeable future.
