The Union County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of one of their own to COVID-19.
In a social media post, the sheriff’s office announced the death of Correctional Officer Stacy Crawford.
Crawford died at Shands UF Hospital on Tuesday after a long battle with the virus.
UCSO said Crawford worked with the Department of Corrections for nearly 30 years before retiring in 2015.
“Correctional Officer Crawford has been a loyal member of the Union County Sheriff’s Office since 2016 and will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time,” the post read.
Crawford is one of at least 10 local first responders that has died to COVID-19.
