JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A multi-state manhunt ended on a Wednesday with the arrest of 43-year-old Jonathan Soto at an apartment complex on Gate Parkway in Jacksonville.
Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office released video Monday of the arrest. Soto was wanted on a fugitive warrant for murder and possession of a firearm.
Soto had been on the Atlanta Police Department’s most wanted list and was considered armed and dangerous. He is a suspect in the February 2023 killing of a popular business owner at the Republic Lounge in Atlanta.
The joint operation involved a SWAT team, the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and the Atlanta Police Department, supported by an Unmanned Aerial Systems Unit. Law enforcement officers surrounded the apartment where Soto was hiding.
After he refused to come out, officers used an energetic charge to open the door and Soto surrendered without further incident.
