Warrant: Jacksonville man dead after woman hits him with computer tower

An arrest warrant released by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is adding new detail to the death of a 69-year-old man on the Southside.

Jessica Norton, 31, is facing a second-degree murder charge in the death of Rafael Vito Sur, 69.

Norton is accused of attacking Sur during an attempted eviction from the man's home, authorities said.

Norton's arrest warrant says that on Sept. 16, she went to the Sur's Jacksonville home to retrieve some of her belongings. Sur's house has extensive exterior and interior cameras, and the footage shows Norton becoming aggressive, the warrant said.

The warrant said that after being pushed, Sur grabbed a samurai sword to defend himself, but Norton grabbed a laundry basket and and knocked Sur to the ground. Norton then grabbed the sword and struck him multiple times, the warrant said.

Norton then reportedly grabbed a computer tower, lifted it over her head, and threw it down into Sur. She then called three people and said she was being held against her will, the report said.

Sur was taken to Memorial Hospital, where he died. His autopsy showed that he died from multiple impacts to the head.

When she was interviewed by police, Norton said Sur ran into the living room and grabbed the samurai sword, and when she saw Sur with the sword, she "lost it," the warrant said.

Norton is also charged with tampering with evidence. She is being held without bond.
