PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — A Florida Highway Patrol trooper is being called a hero after she placed her vehicle in the way of a suspected drunk driver heading toward the Skyway 10K race on Sunday.
The dashboard camera footage shows trooper Toni Schuck intercepting the other vehicle head-on right before that driver could get to the Skyway 10K Route in St. Petersburg around 8:40 a.m.
Schuck is now recovering.
“Preventing a tragedy,” Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles stated in a post. “Thank you for your service, Trooper Schuck. We wish you a speedy recovery.”
