BRUNSWICK, Ga. — The Brunswick Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that took place Tuesday night in Brunswick.
Officers responded around 10:42 p.m. to the 2400 block of Albany Street, near Glynn County Schools. Police arrived and found a Volvo station wagon that crashed through a duplex apartment complex.
The man in the vehicle, who has been identified as 22-year-old Nicholas King, was found dead, and has been shot multiple times. Based on the victim's injuries, King was dead before the vehicle crashed into the home, said Blackstock.
No one was home at the time of the incident, said the Brunswick Police Department.
"I'd have been hurt right along with the gentleman who died last night," said Jamie Smith, who lives in the apartment.
Smith was greeted by Brunswick mayor Cornell Harvey, who was on the way to a chamber meeting when he heard what happened.
"The homeowner is worried about vandalism and so forth so were trying to get in contact with people so they can board his house up," said Harvey.
Smith said, "I'm beyond thankful. If my son was here and this situation happened he'd have been laid out on that couch with me. And that's the only thing that I'm thinking about is that my son wasn't here, I wasn't here, nobody that I care about was here."

Police recovered 9 mm shells from the scene. Brunswick Police Department Detective Roy Blackstock said the same brand and caliber bullet was found at the scene, which makes it appear that there is one suspect.
The company smith rents from is putting the residents of the duplex up in a three-bedroom home.
There is no suspect information at this time in the ongoing investigation.
A reward is offered for information leading to the arrest of a suspect involved in this homicide. Anyone with information is asked to contact Brunswick Police Detective Roy Blackstock at 912-279-2624, the Silent Witness Hotline at 912-267-5516, or bpdtips@brunswickpolice.org.
