JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The push to turn a portion of the northeast Florida coastline into a nude beach has taken a turn. The petitioner, Angela Anderson, initially wanted a section of Jacksonville Beach to be "clothing optional."
In a new post on change.org, Anderson wants a quarter-mile portion of Hanna Park set aside for "naturism."
Anderson said the park is perfect because it's secluded and people have to pay to visit.
She took note of the state's only other nude beach, Haulover Beach, saying it generates a billion dollars to the local economy each year.
Anderson also says the park should be managed with nude beach etiquette in mind.
Jacksonville Beach Mayor Charlie Latham is against the idea.
