A local doctor says there are unique aspects about TPC that make it less risky for fans. Full report LIVE on CBS47 and FOX30.

THE PLAYERS Championship is underway and the coronavirus has tournament leaders taking additional steps to protect fans.

Fans won’t be able to bring liquids through the gates at TPC Sawgrass but this year fans will be given their own hand sanitizer.

Crews have dropped off an additional 42 hand-sanitizing stations around the property, bringing the number of stations to 120.

Action News Jax spoke with the executive director of THE PLAYERS.

He said they’ve been in touch with the Centers for Disease and Control Prevention and the World Health Organization, as well as local health agencies – getting coronavirus guidance from them all.

Leaders said they have passed along health directives to vendors and other partners to make sure everyone is on the same page and taking the necessary steps to prevent COVID-19.
