Coronavirus: 7 workers at Virginia ramen noodle factory test positive for COVID-19

CHESTERFIELD, Va. — A Virginia ramen noodle plant is among the latest food production facilities to experience an outbreak of the novel coronavirus.

Seven workers at Maruchan Virginia Inc.'s factory in Chesterfield have tested positive for COVID-19, WRIC-TV reported Wednesday. Those employees are now under quarantine, the company said.

A Maruchan Virginia spokesperson told WRIC that the facility was immediately deep-cleaned after factory officials learned of the infected employees.

"We will continue to enforce safety and sanitization precautions above and beyond what has been outlined by the [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] and the Health Department, and, as of now, the plant is in operation," the spokesperson said.

As of Wednesday morning, Virginia had reported 25,800 confirmed coronavirus cases and 892 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University. At least 837 cases have been confirmed in Chesterfield County.
