Coronavirus: Walmart looking to hire 150,000 workers, give bonuses

Walmart is joining the list of companies that are trying to add workers as demands increase during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The retailer is the largest private employer in the U.S., and it’s adding 150,000 temporary workers by the end of May to work in stores, clubs, distribution centers and fulfillment centers, CNN reported.

The jobs could become permanent over time, the company said in a press release.

The company will speed up the hiring process, which normally lasts about two weeks, fast-tracking it to 24 hours, CNN reported.

The company isn’t forgetting the employees who are currently on the job. Full-time employees will get a $300 bonus, while part-time workers will get a $150 bonus.

Walmart will also issue employee quarterly bonus early, CNN reported.
