According to The Associated Press and the BBC, the two-time Academy Award winner – whose charges include four counts of sexual assault stemming from alleged incidents involving three men in 2005, 2008 and 2013 – entered the plea while appearing at Central Criminal Court. Spacey, 62, also pleaded not guilty to a charge of causing someone “to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent,” the AP reported.

The plea came less than a month after Spacey, a former artistic director of London’s Old Vic Theatre, was granted unconditional bail at a June 16 preliminary hearing, CNN previously reported. At the time, Spacey’s attorney said the actor “strenuously denies any and all criminality in this case,” according to the AP.

Spacey is scheduled to go to trial June 6, 2023, the AP reported.

Sexual misconduct allegations began to surface against the former “House of Cards” star in 2017, when Anthony Rapp accused Spacey of making an inappropriate sexual advance toward him in 1986, when Rapp, now 50, was 14, BuzzFeed previously reported. Spacey later issued a statement saying he did not recall the alleged encounter.
