Police: San Antonio boy, 12, dies after accidentally shooting himself in head

SAN ANTONIO — A 12-year-old boy in San Antonio died after accidentally shooting himself in the head, authorities said Saturday.

Cojuan Singleton died from his injuries at an area hospital, KSAT reported.

According to San Antonio police, Singleton’s brother was cleaning the .40-caliber Glock handgun Friday night when the boy got hold of the weapon and shot himself, WOAI reported.

The boy’s sister heard the gunshot and called 911, and Singleton was taken to an area hospital, where he died several hours later, the television station reported.

Singleton’s stepmother and biological mother were both at work at the time of the incident, police said.

No one else was injured, KSAT reported. No charges have been filed so far, police said.
