According to WJCL and WCTV, the incident occurred Sept. 3 at a residence on Mosely Avenue. Tift County sheriff’s deputies said a 6-year-old was in a bedroom with the toddler, Mirakle Brown, when a gun fired, the news outlets reported. Brown suffered a gunshot wound to the head and later died, authorities said.
The children were the only people in the room at the time of the shooting, officials said.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is now involved in the probe, the agency said in a news release Tuesday. Investigators are still awaiting the results of an autopsy, the GBI said.
