Two separate crashes that happened within hours of each other.

Jacksonville, FL. — Action News Jax is following two separate crashes that happened within hours of each other.

Police say one was deadly after the driver lost control of his car, while the second crash was a hit and run.

When police arrived to the first scene they found the driver but he had already died from his injuries.

Police say that driver may have been racing another car when he crash.

Officers believe he lost control of his car and struck a pole here on University Blvd.

You can see the scene is clear now but this is some of the damage left over.

Police tell us that the driver hit a JEA concrete pole while driving his Chevy Camaro.

Witnesses told police that the driver of the Camaro appeared to be racing another car when he lost control.

They say he drove up the curb and hit the pole.

Traffic homicide detectives arrived shortly after.

Police say the second vehicle did not stop.

The second crash happened on Beach Blvd around 10:30 p.m. on Friday.

Police say a person was struck while trying to cross the street.

He’s believed to be between the ages of 25 and 45.

When police arrived they found the victim in the intersection and rushed him to the hospital with serious injuries.

A witness says the car involved was heading westbound on Beach Blvd and didn’t stop.

JSO says based on evidence at the scene the car involved was most likely a dodge and could have some damage to it’s front end.
