Ribault Lady Trojans celebrated with #Bluesday in downtown Jacksonville

Tuesday was #Bluesday in Jacksonville, as the city's streets turned blue to celebrate the Ribault High School Lady Trojans were honored for winning a national title.

"I’m so happy for this … for our Northside. I love this school," said fan Marry Anne Dunbar.

The Lady Trojans rode in style through the streets, their national title along for the ride for everyone to see.

"Cherish their time and let them know that we support them all the way through," said fan Terry Stripling.

The Lady Trojans won a four-team invitational tournament at Madison Square Garden in New York City. They finished their season 30-1.

"It’s something big for us. But it’s something little that can start something really big for the city of Jacksonville. We’ve been consumed by a lot of violence and this something … it’s inspiring," said team captain Nola Carter.

An achievement the city celebrated as the Lady Trojans continue to look forward to their future.

There are plans to send the team on a special trip to celebrate their win. There's a petition circulating to try and get the Lady Trojans to the White House.
