Businesses and local hospitals are working together to get more members of our community vaccinated

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Civic Council has launched a new campaign with the help of local hospitals and businesses to get our vaccination numbers up in Duval County.

Currently, our local hospital system is overwhelmed with COVID-19 hospitalizations.

Our vaccination rate is about 50 percent among those 12 and older.

The hope by partnering with businesses like FIS, which is headquartered here in Jacksonville, their employees and other community members who haven’t yet gotten the vaccine will get the facts, talk to their doctor, and hopefully get vaccinated.

That way business can continue because Ascension Florida President and CEO Tom Vaosdol says when our community is flooded with the virus, it hurts not only those patients who are fighting for their lives, but it affects every aspect of our lives.
