On Saturday, surfers could see waves as high at 8 feet. On Sunday, those waves could rise to 12 feet.

Waves will be rough this weekend and it won’t just impact the coast.

Action News Jax spotted red flags warning swimmers and surfers for high rip current risk.

The First Alert Weather Team is expecting rough surf all along the coast, anywhere from 6 to 12-foot waves. High winds are in the forecast as well.

Following Hurricane Matthew and Irma, St. Johns County added 800,000 cubic yards of sand to protect the St. Augustine dunes from future hurricanes. Those dunes did suffer minor damage from Hurricane Isiais, according to the St. Johns County Interim Emergency Management Director.
