Deadly officer-involved shooting in Kingsland

Kingsland, GA. — On Aug. 23, at approximately 10:49 p.m. officers responded to a call at the Camden Way Apartments for possible domestic disturbance, according to the Kingsland Police Department.

Upon arrival, the police department said officers found Gearil Leonard Williams holding a knife.

Officers also found a female victim inside the apartment.

Once the officers made there way into the apartment, they found Williams threatening the female with the knife.

One officer discharged his service weapon striking Williams, authorities said.

Williams died at the scene. The female victim was taken to Camden County Medical Center for lacerations on her face, and possible facial fractures.

The incident in its entirety was captured by officers’ body camera.

The Kingsland Police Department has requested the GBI to conduct a separate and independent investigation into this officer involved shooting.
