JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man was arrested on a murder charge after another man died from a gunshot wound to the chest last October, says the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO).
According to JSO, on October 1, 2025, District 1 Patrol officers responded to a local hospital after 24-year-old Javaris Perkins was dropped off with a gunshot wound to his chest. He eventually died from his injuries.
JSO says detectives used every investigative tool available and eventually identified the suspect as 20-year-old Jamari Wyche.
Wyche was arrested in an unrelated armed robbery case less than two weeks after Perkins died. He has been in the Duval County jail since October 13, 2025.
On Wednesday, detectives charged Wyche with Perkins’ murder.
