3 dead in double-murder, suicide outside East Palatka restaurant

EAST PALATKA, Fla. — Three people are dead after a shooting Wednesday night in the parking lot of Corky Bell's Seafood & Steaks at Gator Landing in East Palatka, according to Hancel Woods of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were called to the restaurant just before 7 p.m. Action News has learned that a man apparently killed his ex-girlfriend and the man she was with. That man then killed himself, according to deputies.

The family of the woman killed has identified her to Action News as Detret Burley. Burley's family tells us she is a twin and owned a local event planning company, and was the mother of five children ranging in ages from 5 to 19.

Burley's family identified the male victim as Travis Hall, and Hall's family confirmed to Action News that he was with Burley having dinner at the restaurant. Action News is working to confirm the identity of the gunman.

The restaurant is located at 185 U.S. 17, which is just near State Road 207. U.S. 17 was closed in both directions for several hours near the restaurant due to police activity. Just before 11 p.m., officers were opening all lanes of U.S. 17.

During the investigation, the restaurant was on lockdown and wasn't open for business.
