JACKSONVILLE, Fla — In Duval County Public Schools, 49% of elementary students tested at or above the proficient level for reading, and 58% tested at or above that level for math. Given that Florida is a nationwide leader in education, Americans for Prosperity-Florida believe for it is critical to strive to reach even higher levels of proficiency.
Americans for Prosperity-Florida is working to expand educational opportunities for Floridians in order to yield even greater academic results for our children. This Saturday, at 10 a.m., the organization is hosting a town hall/expo to drive forward Florida’s need for more educational opportunities, such as ESAs.

The “Empowered Education Town Hall and Expo” at Jacksonville’s River City Science Academy (8160 Baymeadows Way W Jacksonville, FL 32256) will take place on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 10 a.m. followed by the expo from noon until 2 p.m.
The event, which will focus on the importance of expanding educational opportunities for Floridians, will include a policy panel, town hall, and expo, with complimentary food trucks. It will also feature award-winning keynote speaker Dan Quiggle, a self-described “serial entrepreneur,” and a panel discussion on “How Educational Savings Accounts Can Transform Education in Florida for Students and Teachers.”

The event will serve as a forum for Florida families to learn more about ESAs and discuss their benefits with AFP-FL staff members. ESAs are savings accounts managed by families and used exclusively for the educational benefit of their child, giving families the autonomy to direct their child’s funding to the schools, courses, programs, and services they choose.
“Florida families deserve flexibility in determining the kind of education that meets their child’s unique needs, and our state’s leadership has the opportunity to make this a reality for them,” said AFP-FL State Director Skylar Zander. “The Empowered Education Townhall and Expo will not only educate parents on the benefits of personalized education, but also empower them to fight for the expansion of educational opportunities in Florida.”

Keynote speaker Dan Quiggle leads the Quiggle Group, based in Ponte Vedra Beach. He is an author, serial entrepreneur, and leadership keynote speaker who is passionate about inspiring leaders at all levels in their practical pursuit of extraordinary leadership.
AFP-FL believes every child in Florida should have the flexibility to pursue the kind of educational course most tailored to their individual needs and that sets them up for lifelong learning and success, Zander said.
