JSO said witnesses saw two cars park about 100 yards from each other on Edgefield Drive before the occupants of the vehicles got out and started exchanging gunfire.
Police said the person who called 911 had a stray bullet hit their house. Other houses may have been hit, but police are still investigating the scene.
A passenger in one of the vehicles was shot, but police said they are in stable condition and their injuries are not life threatening. The driver of that vehicle and the person shot have been detained and are being questioned by detectives.
JSO is still on the lookout for a black Dodge, "possibly a Durango," that may have been the other vehicle involved in the gun battle.
Witnesses told police that both cars had multiple passengers. Police said there were more than 40 bullet casings of multiple calibers, indicating there were different types of guns used.
Anyone with information regarding the shootout is encouraged to contact JSO at 904-630-0500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-8477.
