Bridge closures information ahead of Hurricane Dorian

FLORIDA — We're keeping a list of area bridges that are closing due to Hurricane Dorian.

As the storm gets closer to the Florida coast, bridge closures are possible. Right now, no bridges are closed in Duval County.

We will update this story as closures are announced:

Camden County: The Dark Entry Creek Bridge located on Georgia Highway 40 in St. Marys between Shadowlawn Subdivision and Winn-Dixie is closed due to high water.

Nassau County: Bridges have been reopened in Nassau County as of 4:40 p.m. Curfew has been reinstated from 8 p.m. tonight through 7 a.m. Thursday.

St. Johns County: The Bridge of Lions reopened Wednesday afternoon after closing briefly. All bridges are open.

Duval County: In Jacksonville, bridges will close if sustained winds are 40 mph or higher. JSO says they could close anytime between 12:01 a.m. Wednesday and midnight Thursday, Sept. 5.

Clay County: Right now, no bridges are closed. 

According to the Clay County Sheriff's Office, bridges will be closed once sustained winds are 40 mph. They will be individually monitored and once closed, they will remain closed for the duration of the storm.

Florida Highway Patrol is monitoring the conditions and will make a determination if or when the conditions reach tropical storm-force winds for longer than 60 seconds.

Glynn County: The following bridges closed at  8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3. 

  • The Sidney Lanier bridge
  • Talmadge bridges
  • The Jekyll Island Causeway (Officials say this decision was made by the Jekyll Island Authority.)

The F.J. Torres Causeway to St. Simons Island will only close in the event that it is dangerous or flooded.

Putnam County: Right now, no bridges are closed. 

The Florida Department of Transportation will close the County Rd. 310 bridge starting Tuesday, Sept 3. The bridge will remain closed until the storm calms down and follow up inspections can be conducted to determine the bridge is safe to reopen. Earlier closure is possible depending on conditions.
