Thursday is the two-year anniversary of the Candy Apple Cafe & Cocktails restaurant and it’s celebrating with cotton candy drinks.
The Candy Apple sits on the corner of Hogan Street. Inside, diners find a colorful atmosphere and a packed dining room, something Downtown Jacksonville is hoping to see more of.

Owner Liz Earnest said she was a little worried about starting her restaurant downtown.
“We see our evening business growing every month. We were really worried about evening business.”
Candy Apple has been thriving. Earnest said its location turned out to be a big part of the success.
“We wanted to support the urban core. We saw what was going on at Hemming and realized people were taking downtown seriously again and we wanted to be a part of it,” said Earnest.
Downtown Vision said there are nine restaurant and retail businesses scheduled to open in the spring, everything from coffee shops to a furniture store.
