BAKER COUNTY, Fla. — The Baker County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting on Interstate 10 that left two children injured.
A mother and her two young children were traveling east on I-10 toward Jacksonville at about 11 p.m. Sunday when another vehicle fired multiple shots at their car, the sheriff’s office said.
The 6-year-old was shot in the arm. An 11-year-old suffered superficial injuries from shattered glass. Both children have been treated and are recovering, according to the sheriff’s office.
The family had just left a residence in Macclenny, and investigators say it is possible they were followed.
The sheriff’s office said the description of the shooter’s vehicle is unknown at this time.
Anyone with information that could help detectives is urged to call the Baker County Sheriff’s Office at (904) 259-9218. Tips can also be reported anonymously to First Coast Crime Stoppers at (866) 845-8477.
