Action News Jax reporter Courtney Cole spoke to the principal, Dr. Denise Hall. “There's a line between vandalism and a prank and this was vandalism. It just crossed the line,” Hall said.

The principal went on to tell Cole the senior class is going to pay for all the damages. But it's the other way the students stepped in that she is most proud of.

A viewer sent Action News Jax video of students trashing a classroom at Baldwin Middle Senior High School.

A window was broken and a fire extinguisher was used as well. It appeared to be a senior prank that went too far.

"Every senior class wants to leave their mark. Some go awry, some do not,” Hall said. But Hall says this one did. Mya Graham, a senior at the school, says she couldn't believe it.

"I didn't even know what to think. Really my mind was blown. I was like ‘How could y’all do this?’ — This is our school. We're supposed to take care of it,” Graham told Cole.

"Of course when I found out about, and was driving here at 11:30 at night, I was upset at the group, didn't know who it was,” Hall said.

After walking the entire school to survey all the damage, to her surprise, more than two dozen students showed up to help clean -- including some who were responsible.

“I understand that as a senior, we're responsible as an entire class. So even if I didn't take part in messing up the school, my senior class did. So I felt like it was my responsibility to come and clean it up,” Graham said.

Hall told Action News Jax students involved apologized a dozen times and stayed to make sure the classrooms would be ready for teachers — and students — on Friday morning.

"Baldwin isn't about the ones that do the wrong things. Baldwin is about the ones who do the right things,” Hall said.

Hall told Cole disciplinary action will be taken against students who participated in the prank.

Here is the email Hall sent to the school community following the school prank. It was shared with Action News Jax by Duval County Public Schools.
