Clay County man arrested after 11-year-old gives birth

Jason Evans, 38, was arrested on March 14 and faces charges of lewd and lascivious conduct and tampering with a witness/victim in a life capital felony proceeding, according to a Clay County Sheriff's Office arrest report.

This arrest is related to a January arrest in which Evans faced charges of capital sexual battery on a victim under 12 years old, according to the arrest report.

The Sheriff's Office said an 11-year-old victim was discovered to be pregnant last year, but the victim would not tell police who the father was. She gave birth to a girl.

Investigators said that during the course of the investigation, police arrested Evans for his involvement in this case.

Additional charges were added to Evan's arrest in March after jail call logs showed he called the victim from jail around 700 times, according to the arrest report.

Danielle Mayhorn, 36, was also arrested for involvement in this case. She faces charges for child abuse and tampering with a witness/victim, according to an arrest report.

Investigators said jail call logs show Evans call Mayhorn to speak with the victim from jail. According the arrest report, Mayhorn allowed Evans to speak with victim.
